Simmonds will play for Philadelphia; Nashville goes for sweep of season series

The Game

Forward Wayne Simmonds said he will be in the lineup for the Philadelphia Flyers against the Nashville Predators at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.

Simmonds, who leads the Flyers and is tied for sixth in the NHL with five goals, said he felt fine after being a full participant at the morning skate. He missed the final 8:12 of the third period in a 5-1 win against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday because of a lower-body injury.

The Predators have points in four straight games (3-0-1), a streak that began with a 6-5 win against the Flyers in Nashville on Oct. 10.

 

Players to watch

Predators forward Filip Forsberg has eight points (four goals, four assists) during a four-game point streak.

Shayne Gostisbehere of the Flyers leads NHL defensemen with 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in six games. He has seven points (one goal, six assists) during a three-game point streak.

Status report

The Predators held an optional morning skate. Rinne is expected to make his fifth straight start. … Neuvirth will start consecutive games for the first time this season. He made 40 saves against the Panthers on Tuesday.
