Morning Skate Report: March 25, 2019

The Vegas Golden Knights begin the final two weeks of the regular season with a matchup against the St. Louis Blues on Monday night at Enterprise Center. Puck drop is set for 5 p.m. PT on AT&T SportsNet and FOX Sports Radio 98.9/1340.

LAST TIME OUT
Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, the Golden Knights picked up a point as they dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Detroit Red Wings. Cody Eakin and Reilly Smith supplied the offense for Vegas with one goal each, but Anthony Mantha's power-play goal in the third period set the stage for his OT-winner 19 seconds into the 3-on-3 session.

SEASON SERIES
Victories have escaped the Golden Knights each time they've met the St. Louis Blues this season. After losing 5-3 in St. Louis on Nov. 1, the Golden Knights came up short again in Vegas on Nov. 16 in a 4-1 game. Alex Tuch, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Erik Haula and William Carrier are the only Vegas players with a goal against the Blues in 2018-19.
OPPOSITION UPDATE
The Blues have dug themselves out of a hole in the standings during the second half of the season and now rank third in the Central Division with 88 points. St. Louis has won three consecutive games including a 4-3 triumph against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
Ryan O'Reilly leads the Blues with 70 points (26G, 44A) through 75 contests and has accrued 20 points (5G, 15A) on the power play this season. Vladimir Tarasenko (29 goals) is closing in on fifth straight 30-goal season and has five game-winning goals on the year. Jordan Binnington has been the story of St. Louis' second-half success as he owns a 20-4-1 record in 25 starts.

Depth vs. Depth: Vegas and St. Louis boast two of the most balanced forward groups in the Western Conference. Both teams pose a threat to score on every shift so it's key that Vegas' depth outworks that of the Blues.
