VANCOUVER -- Brock Boeser and Loui Eriksson each scored two goals, and the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 6-2 at Rogers Arena on Tuesday.
Thomas Vanek had one goal and two assists, Bo Horvat had two assists Jacob Markstrom made 30 saves for the Canucks (19-23-6), who have won three of their past five games after losing nine of the previous 10 (1-7-2).

"We played great in the beginning and had some good chances, and the puck went in for us," Eriksson said. "It was definitely nice to get a good start and get the win."

Anze Kopitar had a goal and an assist and Alex Iafallo scored for the Kings (25-18-5), who have lost seven of their past eight games.
Jonathan Quick was pulled after giving up five goals on 19 shots early in the second period; Darcy Kuemper made 16 saves in relief.
"Our two best players in the game were our goalies," Kings coach John Stevens said. "Not often you say that when you lose 6-2, but that's what it sums up to."
Eriksson scored on his own rebound 1:02 into the game after his deflection trickled under Quick's arm. Eriksson finished off a 3-on-2 rush after a nice backhand pass from Horvat to make it 2-0 at 3:50 and had an assist by sending Vanek in for a breakaway to make it 3-0 at 5:49.

"Having Bo, Vanek and Loui get three straight goals was awesome," said Boeser, who moved up to the top line with Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin. "That gave us a ton of momentum. We just kept building off it."
Iafallo scored at 8:01 to make it 3-1, but the Kings were penalized for a face-off violation 18 seconds later and Sven Baertschi restored the three-goal lead on a power play at 10:02.

"We answer right away, but they get the fourth one on the power play and it was tough to kind of get going again," Kopitar said. "Their power play was good today."
Boeser scored his first goal in seven games on a power-play rebound at 4:21 of the second period. Kopitar responded with a power-play goal for the Kings 1:27 later, but Boeser drew a hooking penalty and then a cross-checking penalty before scoring his Canucks- and NHL rookie-leading 24th goal of the season on the ensuing 5-on-3 to make it 6-2.

"Total reluctance to follow a game plan," Stevens said. "They came in ready to check and play hard on pucks, and we tried to play a rush game and allowed people to get behind us."

They said it

"Johnny didn't want to come out of the net because he wants to stay in with his team, and I just felt he had enough. Hung him out to dry, so may as well get him out, get Darcy some work." -- Kings coach John Stevens
"I thought putting Horvat with Loui and Vanek would give both of them a little bit of life, a little bit of energy. Both those guys know they are going to play a lot when they play with Bo and they are going to get offensive chances." -- Canucks coach Travis Green

Need to know

Kings defenseman Derek Forbort, who plays on the top pair with Drew Doughty, left midway through the second period with an upper-body injury and did not return. Stevens did not have an update on his status after the game. … The Kings had a power-play goal called back for goaltender interference at 7:15 of the third period because Adrian Kempe hit Markstrom in the mask with his stick right before Tyler Toffoli scored on the rebound.
