CBJ@DAL: Gurianov buries one-timer off of slick pass

The Dallas Stars scored four goals in the second period, including two in 20 seconds, in a 5-1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday.

Seven players scored two points each, and Jake Oettinger made 21 saves for the Stars (17-14-12), who are 4-0-2 in the past six games.
"When you're rolling, guys have more confidence," Dallas forward Joe Pavelski said. "The biggest thing is we've got to keep taking care of business and that's what we've been able to do."
Vladislav Gavrikov scored for the Blue Jackets (15-22-9), who have lost five straight and 12 of 14, including 4-1 here Thursday.

Joonas Korpisalo allowed four goals on 16 shots in 33:34 before being replaced by Elvis Merzlikins, who made 15 saves.
"We have to go out and do the right things," Columbus forward Oliver Bjorkstrand said. "We know what the right things are. We just have to have the mindset. If we can do it in the first period, there's no excuse in the second."
Dallas is in sixth place in the eight-team Discover Central Division, three points behind the fourth-place Nashville Predators with three games in hand. Columbus is in seventh place, 10 points behind the Predators. The top four teams qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Denis Gurianov gave the Stars a 2-1 lead at 10:10 of the second period with his third goal in two games.
Pavelski made it 3-1 at 13:14, scoring on a backhand with Roope Hintz screening Korpisalo. Pavelski leads Dallas with 18 goals, including six against Columbus.

John Klingberg extended the lead to 4-1 20 seconds later, at 13:34, scoring on a 3-on-2. His shot deflected off the stick of Blue Jackets defenseman Scott Harrington and through Korpisalo's pads.
"We've been playing pretty good 5-on-5 for a while," Klingberg said. "It seems like the puck is going in right now, and we got timely goals as well, which allows you to get momentum in the game and get a little bit of a breather.
"We've proven at times that when we score one we've stayed on the attack and we get a second one. We've had some good second periods lately that have changed games for us."
Esa Lindell scored at 16:40 for a 5-1 lead.
Gavrikov scored his first goal in 39 games to give Columbus a 1-0 lead 6:06 into the first period.
Jamie Benn tied it 1-1 at 12:35. Klingberg sent a bouncing puck at Korpisalo and Benn scored on the rebound.
"The way we talk on the benches is if we get one we're going right back at them," Stars coach Rick Bowness said. "If they score, we want to go back at them. That's been the attitude we've always had. We want to push the pace, and especially when we get a goal."
Columbus has been outscored 57-33 in the second period.
"We played a really good first period and then for whatever reason we just kind of take our foot off the gas pedal," Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson said "I keep saying that, but that's what happens. It seems like we go from playing on our toes to trying to make plays and getting out of the forecheck and trying to sit back."
