Gibson made 14 saves in the third period, several on Grade A scoring chances for the Hurricanes, who rallied from down two goals in the final 6:57 at the Los Angeles Kings before losing 3-2 in overtime Saturday.
"We knew they were going to have a push in the third," Gibson said. "I wanted to put a little bit of extra pressure on myself to make sure I rose to the occasion."
Anaheim forward Corey Perry left the game with a lower-body injury at 13:14 of the first period after his knee struck Jeff Skinner's leg in a collision in the Carolina zone. Coach Randy Carlyle said Perry went to the hospital to be evaluated, but he didn't have an update.

Justin Williams and Victor Rask scored for the Hurricanes (11-11-7), who have lost four games in a row (0-2-2) and six of seven (1-3-3).
Silfverberg, who missed the previous five games with an upper-body injury, scored on a breakaway with 35 seconds left in the second period to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead.
Hurricanes defenseman Haydn Fleury couldn't control the puck in the neutral zone and fell while trying to change direction. That left Silfverberg 1-on-1 against goaltender Scott Darling, and he scored high to the glove side.
"It was a lucky break, I guess," Silfverberg said. "I just tried to beat him with speed and a precise shot. It was nice to see that one go in. It's about time I scored on a breakaway. [I'm 0-for-3] in the shootout this year."
Carolina coach Bill Peters said Silfverberg's goal was the result of a bad bounce.
"I didn't think we gave up much at all in the first and then a tough break on their second one," Peters said. "Either the ice was soft or the puck was soft because [the puck] was bouncing."
Anaheim made it 3-1 after Welinski stopped the puck at the blue line and passed to Shaw for a one-timer past Darling from the high slot at 1:52 of the third period.

Rask scored from in close on the rebound of a Skinner shot with 2:40 left to make it 3-2.
"That's where you've got to go to score," Peters said. "The guys that aren't getting inside the hash marks, in tight to the net, they're not getting anything done offensively."
The Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead when Williams scored on the first shot of the game at 1:37 of the first period.
Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf, who returned to the lineup after missing the previous 19 games following surgery for a facial fracture, lost a faceoff in the Anaheim zone on his first shift, leading to Williams' goal.
Getzlaf was minus-1 in 19:55. He did not have a shot on goal.
The Ducks tied it 1-1 at 5:55 of the first. Grant emerged with the puck following a battle near the Hurricanes blue line and backhanded it to Shaw on his left. Darling got a piece of Shaw's shot, but the puck was sliding toward the goal line when Grant dove and pushed it across.
It was the third multipoint game of Shaw's NHL career.
