Hurricanes 31 IN 31: [Season preview | 3 Questions | Top prospects | Behind the numbers]
Sebastian Aho, C (NHL.com rank: 16) -- The Carolina Hurricanes center has joined the top 20 overall fantasy rankings after he almost averaged a point per game last season (66 in 68 games) and scored 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in eight postseason games. Aho, who had the best points-per-game average in the Stanley Cup Qualifiers (2.67; eight points in three games against New York Rangers), is a top 10 fantasy center anchoring one of the most potent first lines in the NHL with valuable wings Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen.
Andrei Svechnikov, LW/RW (17) -- He's third among fantasy left wings behind Artemi Panarin of the Rangers and Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals after breaking out with 61 points (24 goals, 37 assists), including 20 on the power play, and a plus-9 rating in 68 games last season, his second in the NHL. Svechnikov still has a higher goal-scoring ceiling (11.8 percent NHL shooting rate), and the only forward linemates ranked ahead of Aho and Svechnikov are Nathan MacKinnon (1) and Mikko Rantanen (14) of the Colorado Avalanche, and Nikita Kucherov (3) and Brayden Point (10) of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Svechnikov tops list of 2019-20 breakout players

Dougie Hamilton, D (34) -- He was limited to 47 games last season because of a broken fibula, but his points-per-game average (0.85) ranked fourth among NHL defensemen behind John Carlson of the Capitals (1.09), Roman Josi of the Nashville Predators (0.94) and Cale Makar of the Avalanche (0.88). Hamilton, who leads NHL defensemen in goals (49) over the past three seasons, is a fixture on the first power play with Aho, Svechnikov and Teravainen, and is among the top five at the position.
Teuvo Teravainen, LW/RW (59) -- He's 34th in scoring (203 points in 232 games) and tied with Evgeny Kuznetsov of the Capitals for 37th in power-play points (65) over the past three seasons. Over the past two, Teravainen is tied with Panarin and Kucherov for fourth in the NHL with a plus-50 rating and is tied with Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames and Aleksander Barkov of the Florida Panthers for 12th in assists (103) with frequent exposure to Aho and Svechnikov. Teravainen has a high floor considering his shooting percentage dipped last season (8.2 percent; 12.6 in 2018-19) but his points-per-game average did not change (0.93).
Other players to consider in late rounds or off waiver wire: Petr Mrazek, G (154); Jaccob Slavin, D (165); James Reimer, G (225); Martin Necas, C/RW (233); Vincent Trocheck, C
