A look at the game “by the numbers.”

The Kraken earned their win tonight. In 5-on-5 play, they generated 51.3-percent of all shot attempts that equaled 49.6-percent of shot quality.

Two lines were able to maintain an offensive edge over the Leafs. The Chandler Stephenson line (with Jaden Schwartz and Eeli Tolvanen), as well as the reconfigured Shane Wright line with Mason Marchment and newly added Jani Nyman.

Interestingly, while the Matty Beniers line broke even in terms of shot volume and shot quality, 8:52 of the line’s 12:52 was spent playing against Auston Matthews’ line, and in that time, Matthews' trio was minus-3 in shot attempts and created just 28-percent of the shot quality.

The Kraken were plus-6 in high danger scoring chances (14-8).

Seattle (2-0-2 in 4 GP) is riding the longest season-opening point streak in the club’s five-season history. They have now posted a point streak of five-plus games eight times to date (at any point in a campaign).

Shane Wright opened the scoring with his 26th career goal while skating in his 100th NHL game. The only players to score as many goals through their first 100 games with the Kraken are Jared McCann (40), Eeli Tolvanen (29), Daniel Sprong (28), Matty Beniers (27), Jordan Eberle (27), and Oliver Bjorkstrand (26).

With Wright’s score, the Kraken have now scored a power play goal in four straight games. They’ve achieved that three other times, most recently from Mar. 14 – 21, 2024. The longest streak of games with a power play goal came in 2023 (Oct. 30 – Nov. 11) when the Kraken had seven straight with a power play tally.

Wright is also just the fourth player from the 2022 Draft class to reach that milestone.

Wright also led his team in shot quality, slot shots (5), and rush chances (2).

Seattle is currently tied for fourth in the league in number of players under the age of 23 to have at least one goal this season with three – Nyman, Wright, Beniers. The teams ahead of them are: Chicago with five; Montreal and Detroit each with four; and Anaheim also with three.

The Kraken allowed one response goal against before scoring one of their own (Dunn).

John Tavares recorded his 500th point with the Maple Leafs and became the fourth player in NHL history to record 500 points with multiple franchises. The others: Ron Francis (CAR/HFD & PIT), Mark Messier (EDM & NYR) and Wayne Gretzky (EDM & LAK).
