ANOTHER GRITTY EFFORT NEEDED
The Jets are coming off a 3-2 setback to the Bruins in Boston last night and have now dropped their last two road games, but both were one goal setbacks. A fantastic start was needed against the Bruins and that is what they gave head coach Rick Bowness. Tonight, Winnipeg must stay out of the penalty box and do much better in the faceoff circle. Their three consecutive penalties against the Bruins took away all of their momentum that they had built taking a 2-0 lead in the opening 20. Winnipeg went 19-for-53 in that department against Boston. Washington is 22nd in the NHL in faceoffs.

MORRISSEY KEEPS PRODUCING
Defenceman Josh Morrissey leads the Jets in scoring with 39 points (6G, 33A) in 33 games, which continues to be a new career high for points. He has also established a new career high with 33 assists. Morrissey has 13 assists during a current 11-game assist streak, which is a new franchise record. He has a point in 28 of his 33 games this season and hasn't gone consecutive games without a point.
OVI WATCH CONTINUES
Alexander Ovechkin remains one goal shy of Gordie Howe on the all-time list. The Capitals star forward sits at 800 career goals and has not scored in four straight games including last night in Ottawa, where he registered two assists. He had six shots on goal and has 6,211 in his NHL career, which moved him past Ray Bourque (6,209) for first on the all-time list. Ovechkin scored his 600th career goal against the Jets. Washington has won three straight and are 8-2-0 in their last ten games and remain one of the hottest teams in the NHL.
