ANOTHER CENTRAL RIVAL
The Jets will play back-to-back games against Central Division teams to close out this three-game homestand. Today, Chicago rolls into town with a 5-4-2 record. Surprising to many considering the Blackhawks were supposed to be in the Connor Bedard sweepstakes and finishing at the bottom of the standings. Jonathan Toews has turned things around with seven goals in 10 games to start the season, he is on a seven-game point streak. The Central Division continues to show as one of the toughest divisions in hockey.
"You look that there were five teams (from the Central) that made the playoffs last year," said Rick Bowness after practice on Friday.
"The narrative on Chicago all summer was 'they're going to tank; they're going to tank'. Well, guess what? They're not tanking it."

ANOTHER CHALLENGE IN THE FACEOFF CIRCLE
Winnipeg did a much better job with faceoffs during their 3-2 win over Montreal, winning 54% of their draws. It moved the Jets into 28th in the league and improved their faceoff percentage to 44.6%. Chicago comes in as the best team in the NHL in that department as they have won a staggering 57.5% of their draws. By the way, Chicago hasn't finished a season higher than 16th in faceoff win percentage since the 2014-15 season.
MORRISSEY'S BLAZING START
Three Winnipeg Jets have at least one point in seven of the teams 10 games start the 2022-23 campaign. Blake Wheeler, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Josh Morrissey. All three registered at least a point in the overtime victory against Montreal. Morrissey is now up to nine assists and his nine points both lead the Jets. The Calgary native has worked well with Neal Pionk since the switch was made to reunite the two defencemen. Morrissey is on pace to shatter his personal bests in assists (26) and points (37).
