NEED BETTER START
The first game of this critical three game homestand for the Jets saw them start slow as they were outshot 19-6 by the Los Angeles Kings in the first period on Saturday. The Jets have been slow out of the gate as late, being outshot seven times in the opening period in their last ten games. In total, they've been outshot 132-80 over that stretch in the opening 20 minutes. The Red Wings played a high event game against the Bruins on home ice Tuesday and are playing their second game in as many nights. A good start will be needed to try and take advantage of the fact that the Jets will be well rested.
STAN IN, HEINOLA OUT
With the return of Schmidt, that means someone has to come out, so Ville Heinola will watch from the press box tonight. Logan Stanley was solid against the Los Angeles Kings playing 17:36, had four hits, three blocked shots and a shot on goal. Heinola played in four consecutive games, had three assists, six shots on goal, four hits and three blocks.
SCOREBOARD WATCHING

Vegas is one point behind Dallas and six up on Winnipeg, is hosting Vancouver this evening. The Jets have a game in hand on the Golden Knights.
