ON WINNING THE PETER MAHER 'GOOD GUY' AWARD:

ON INTERACTING WITH THE MEDIA OVER ZOOM:

"It's been different, obviously. You're used to those big huddles in the dressing room, especially down the stretch and playing in a Canadian market, in particular. You have those big huddles where you have a lot of cameras and microphones and people just hanging around you and microphone stuck in your face. It's a little different now where I can just sit down and relax and it's a little easier for us players. We can just be here and maybe for guys that have trouble in those situations, it might be a little more comfortable or relaxed.
"But at the same time, you get that NHL feeling when all the media are coming around. It feels good, so I miss that a little bit, for sure."

ON BEING OPEN AND HONEST:

"Obviously, you guys are just trying to do your job and I'm just trying to do my job - but at the same time, you don't want to say anything that's going to be taken out of context or make yourself look ignorant or stupid or whatever it is. It's hard. You have to watch your tongue a little bit.
"Especially when it comes to hockey questions, I feel like it's better to try and expand on the question a little bit and give you a real-life answer instead of sitting here and giving you cliches. Nobody wants to listen to that; nobody wants to watch that.
"For the fans, in particular, when they want to know what's going on in the dressing room, what the guys are feeling, what happened in a game - whatever it is - it's just more beneficial to every time if the guy can give a more personal answer. That's what I try to do and that's better for everybody."
