Calgary Flames prospect Pavel Karnaukhov has been named to Russia's preliminary roster for the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Karnaukhov has split the 2016-17 season between CSKA Moskva in the KHL and Zvezda Chekhov in the VHL. In seven games with CSKA Moskva, the forward has one assist. In 15 skates with Zvezda Chekhov, he has recorded five goals and 13 points.
The Flames selected Karnaukhov in the fifth round (136th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft. Prior to heading to Russia for the 2016-17 season, he spent two years with the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League. In 118 regular season WHL games, he netted 32 goals and 73 points.
