Victor-Mete

MONTREAL - From Gretzky to Crosby, and Lemieux to Lafleur, every NHLer has envied at least one aspect of another player's game over the course of their career. With that in mind, we asked defenseman Victor Mete to build his Ultimate Player based on a list of several highly-coveted hockey-related characteristics.

HANDS: PATRICK KANE
He's just deceptive. His hands are just so fast. He can make moves in tight, tight areas.

STRENGTH: NICOLAS DESLAURIERS
I knew he was big, but I didn't realize he was that strong until I went up against him at practice.

SPEED: MICHAEL GRABNER
When we first played against him last season, I remember the guys telling me to watch out for him because he's really fast. He showed some flashes of speed against us with a couple of breakaways.

SHOT: ALEXANDER OVECHKIN
So far in my career, it has to be him. In the second game of last season against Washington, he scored a hat trick in the first period. Then, just watching him all the time growing up and seeing him - his shot is crazy.

VISION: MATHEW BARZAL
Just seeing some of the assists he's able to make, they're pretty ridiculous.

HEART: BRENDAN GALLAGHER
I think everybody works as hard as they can out there. Brendan Gallagher, though, is always working and never gives up.
