MONTREAL – France dropped a 5-1 decision to the Germans during the qualification play-off round on Tuesday at the Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.

With the loss, the French are officially eliminated from the 2026 Winter Olympics tournament.

Alexandre Texier finished the game with four shots on goal and the second-highest time on ice for Team France among forwards at 20:09.

Quarterfinals begin on Wednesday with Juraj Slafkovsky and Slovakia kicking things off against Germany at 6:10 a.m. ET. Canada (Nick Suzuki) will face the winner of Czechia-Denmark at 10:40 a.m. ET, while Finland (Oliver Kapanen) will take on Switzerland at 12:10 p.m. ET.
