EN-GameRecap-0312-LOSS

MONTREAL -- The Canadiens were dealt a 4-3 shootout loss by the Kraken on Saturday night.

It was a special night at the Bell Centre for a number of reasons.
It marked the return of the building to full capacity for the first time in three months.
The Habs also showed their support for Ukraine with a variety of fundraising initiatives and a special performance of "Imagine" by John Lennon courtesy of pianist Serhiy Salov and cellist Katia Brahina.

On the ice, defenseman Joel Edmundson finally made his season debut.
He battled a back injury and had several setbacks in his recovery.

The Kraken opened the scoring at the 9:26 mark of the first period courtesy of Yanni Gourde, who capitalized on a turnover directly in front of goaltender Sam Montembeault.
Gourde's 13th goal of the season was unassisted, and it came short-handed.
The Canadiens answered back five-and-a-half minutes later when Jake Evans found Michael Pezzetta in the slot - and Pezzetta made no mistake beating goaltender Philipp Grubauer.
His third goal of the season was also assisted by Paul Byron.

Ryan Donato responded for Seattle with 3:18 left before the break.
The Kraken led 2-1 after 20 minutes.
There weren't any goals to report for the majority of the second period until sniper Jared McCann lit the lamp at the 15:05 mark on the power play.
McCann's team-leading 23rd goal of the year put the visitors up by a pair.
Dave Hakstol's squad led 3-1 after 40 minutes.
The Habs struck just 64 seconds into the third period when Alexander Romanov blasted a slap shot past Grubauer.
The blueliner's third goal of the season was assisted by Rem Pitlick and Brendan Gallagher.

Nick Suzuki scored the equalizer with 2:12 left in regulation, solving Grubauer with the help of a Kraken defenseman.
Suzuki's 14th goal of the campaign was assisted by Ben Chiarot and Romanov.

It was 3-3 after 60 minutes, so overtime was required.
This one would ultimately be decided in a shootout.
Marcus Johansson sealed the victory for the visitors in the seventh round.
Up next for the Canadiens is a matchup against the Flyers on Sunday night in Philadelphia.
Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. ET.
