WASHINGTON - Canadiens hopefuls Filip Mesar and Vinzenz Rohrer were in action at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship on Friday.

Slovakia 3 - Latvia 0
Mesar added two points to his tournament total to date in a win over the Latvians. The 2022 first-round pick led the rush through the neutral zone and showcased his vision with a brilliant pass to Simon Nemec, who sent it past goaltender Patriks Berzins.

Mesar then scored in an empty net and finished the night with a plus-2 differential and 19:56 of ice time.

Despite the loss, Austria can breathe a sigh of relief as they finally scored their first goal four games into the event.
Forward Rohrer played a whopping 27:26 (!) and had an assist on his team's first goal but ended the night with a minus-2 differential. The captain dominated in the faceoff circle with a 70% success rate.
