MONTREAL - Preliminary round play continued on day two of the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship in Moncton and Halifax.

Four Canadiens prospects were featured in Tuesday's matchups, including Oliver Kapanen, Adam Engstrom, Filip Mesar, and Vinzenz Rohrer.
Finland 5 - Slovakia 2
Habs prospect Oliver Kapanen shone in Finland's 5-2 victory over the Slovaks. The 2021 second-round pick notched his first goal of the tournament on a beautiful wraparound that got the best of Slovakian netminder Patrik Andrisik. Named Player of the Game for the Finns, he also added a secondary assist and registered a plus-2 differential in 16:25 minutes of ice time.

Montreal's 2022 first-round selection Filip Mesar was left off the scoresheet for Slovakia and spent 20:12 on the ice with a minus-2 differential.

Germany 0 - Sweden 1
Defenseman Adam Engstrom also earned his first goal at this year's event, scoring the lone even-strength tally of the game with a point shot through traffic to lead Sweden to victory. He logged 17:08 on the ice. The blueliner has collected three points in two games.

Austria 0 - Czechia 9
Forward Vinzenz Rohrer made his 2023 World Junior debut in a 9-0 loss to Czechia. The Austrian led his squad in ice time with 19:55 and registered a differential of zero.

A trio of Habs prospects will be in action on Wednesday.
Mesar and defenseman Lane Hutson will square off in a battle between Slovakia and the USA at 4:00 p.m. ET in Moncton, NB.
Joshua Roy and Canada will take on Germany at 6:30 p.m. in Halifax, NS.
