SEATTLE - For the B's fans that stayed up extra late, they were surely rewarded with a great hockey game on Thursday night.
Jake DeBrusk's tip-in tally with 1:38 remaining was the difference in a wild, back-and-forth affair at Climate Pledge Arena as Boston kicked off its four-game road trip with a 6-5 victory over the Seattle Kraken.
"It was a great hockey game, it really was," said coach Jim Montgomery, whose club has now won five straight. "When teams are executing and supporting pucks and playing fast offensively, it just makes for a great game of hockey."

Wild Win in the West

The B's did not take a moment to rest on Thursday night in a successful action-packed three periods at Climate Pledge Arena. David Krejci,
Brad Marchand
,
Patrice Bergeron
and
David Pastrnak
all earned a goal and an assist, and some pretty ones at that. Krejci started things off for the B's in the first period, putting away a nice dish from Pastrnak to tie the game at one heading into the second period.
Once the second came along, the teams went at it, combining for six goals across the 20 minutes. Pastrnak put on an absolute show, adding a dangle to his all-time highlight reel, faking out the Seattle defenseman and putting it away flawlessly in the top shelf to tie things, 2-2, just 2:23 into the period. Pastrnak now sits pretty with 42 goals and 37 assists for 79 points.
Meanwhile, Bergeron and Marchand put on a performance of their own. Marchand cleaned up Bergeron's rebound, giving the Bruins a 3-2 lead at 8:49 of the second. Marchand then returned the favor, setting up Bergeron beautifully for a shorthanded goal late in the frame, giving the Bruins the lead, once again, at 4-3 before the Kraken tied it up just 1:02 later as the game sat tied heading into the third.
When asked about some of the things that make this Bruins team so successful in these types of games, Marchand credited the B's experience. "We have an older group, which I don't think you can ever discount," said Marchand. "I know that a lot of teams are going younger and stuff now, but experience, you can never have enough of it..I think it shows through in times where there's a lot of intensity and pressure."
Brandon Carlo came up clutch late in the third period to tie it up, 5-5, in the final five minutes of the game off a feed from Hampus Lindholm, allowing DeBrusk to earn the game winner just a few minutes later. Iit was Carlo's third goal of the year.
"We have a ton of depth, we don't win from one line, we win all the way through," said Marchand." And our D-core has been incredible this year...they came up big again tonight."
Jeremy Swayman improved his record to 14-4-4 tonight after stopping an impressive 36 shots.

DeBrusk Domination

Jake DeBrusk has brought his A-game since returning from his 17-game injury absence checking in with a goal in his last three games including Thursday night's dramatic game winner with 1:38 on the clock. "It's always fun to score those goals," said DeBrusk. "But I think the goals that lead up to it are just equally as clutch to guys in that position."
When asked about how the team handles games with that type of energy, he credits the B's taking pride in their ability to win in all different ways and scenarios. "I think that that's part of why we've been so good this year no matter what their situation," said DeBrusk. "We seem to be calm and know that we can come back and the game is not over..we have so much confidence in our group right now that we know that we're never out of it and showed that tonight."
DeBrusk has been having an outstanding season, checking in with 19 goals and 15 assists in his 39 games played. "This year, he came in with a whole new mindset," said Marchand. "From Day 1, he brought it and has been very consistent..he has so much ability and talent and potential."
