ST. LOUIS - When it comes to bringing professional hockey to St. Louis, there was no one more influential than Sid Salomon Jr. and his son, Sid Salomon III.
The Salomons spent $2 million to buy the franchise and spent another $4 million to purchase and fix up the Arena on Oakland Avenue. The Blues made their debut with a 2-2 tie against the Minnesota North Stars on Oct. 11, 1967.
