Schenn nominated for King Clancy Trophy

Brayden Schenn has been nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy by the St. Louis Blues.

The award is given annually to the NHL player who "best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."

The award winner will be named during the 2023 NHL Awards in Nashville on June 26.

Schenn's community contributions this season are highlighted by his Schenn's Friends program, which provides suite tickets to patients at St. Louis Children's Hospital, giving them an opportunity to attend a Blues game at Enterprise Center with their families. The experience also provides a pregame bench visit, where patients meet Schenn during pre-game warmups.

In addition, Schenn hosted patients and their families for a skate at Halloween and during the holiday season, along with assisting the team in granting the wishes of two Make-A-Wish recipients this season.

Schenn was one of just two Blues to play in all 82 games during the 2022-23 season. He finished third on the club in points (65), posting 21 goals and 44 assists. In six seasons in St. Louis, Schenn has posted 341 points (131 goals, 210 assists) in 425 regular-season games. He also helped the team capture its first Stanley Cup in 2019.

Since it was first awarded in the 1988 season, the King Clancy Trophy has gone to just one Blues player - Kelly Chase - following the 1997-98 season.

Recent King Clancy winners include New Jersey's P.K. Subban, Nashville's Pekka Rinne, and Minnesota's Matt Dumba and Jason Zucker.
