There's nothing quite like that moment when the St. Louis Blues score at Enterprise Center.
The goal horn blares, the players celebrate on the ice and nearly 19,000 fans lunge from their seats in excitement before the organist begins to play those perfect notes: Oh when the Blues, go marching in…
That tradition, like it has for more than 50 years, will return again this season. But beginning with Opening Night on Oct. 4, a new goal song will debut - one that begins after the organ plays and promises to keep fans on their feet cheering well after the puck drops again at center ice.

The new song, an original upbeat sing-a-long / chant-a-long rocker, is a collaboration between the Blues and The Urge, the iconic St. Louis band responsible for such hits as "It's Gettin' Hectic," "Jump Right In," "All Washed Up," and "Too Much Stereo."
"The Blues came to us and asked us to put a few ideas together for a new goal song," said The Urge frontman Steve Ewing. "We looked at what was happening in other goal songs and said 'OK, we know where we need to go with this.' We went into the studio and put together four or five songs before settling on one. I think it turned out really nice. You can definitely tell it's The Urge, but it's also got that sports-chant-feel for the arena, too."
"We started with Jeremy Boyer's organ performance, actually," added Bill Reiter, who has played the saxophone and keyboard for The Urge since joining the band in 1992. "He sent us a version of him playing 'When the Blues Go Marching In,' so we kind of played off of that. We listened to it a couple of times, then took various ideas and cut them together with his performance and the horn… We love it. We're psyched."
The new goal song will incorporate the "Let's Go Blues" chant into its chorus. The Urge has plans to release a complete version of the song for fans to download in the future.
"Working with The Urge and Jeremy Boyer to create a goal song that pays homage to our team's tradition and continues to push the in-game atmosphere at Enterprise Center to new levels has been one of the most fun projects of my career," said Jason Pippi, the Blues' director of in-game entertainment. "The new goal song has been a true collaboration by some of the top musical minds in St. Louis."
"We're very excited about this because we're all huge Blues fans," added Rieiter. "I hope we hear it so many times that we get sick of it. That's what I'm hoping for."
