Coming off a five-game road trip, the Blackhawks suffered their fifth straight loss at the United Center at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks.
Despite having some good chances on the team's three power play opportunities, Connor Murphy described Chicago having the right mindset throughout the night to create different looks, but just simply could not put the puck in to score.
"We had a couple good chances, especially on that power play chances [where Tyler Johnson] had a couple of whacks and [Collin] Delia made two great saves on it," Murphy said. "On some other shots, guys had the right mindset to try and get pucks around the crease and get a dirty one. They had a couple hooking penalties on us that we have chances on too, so it just didn't do it for us."

After suffering five straight losses, Seth Jones felt the team has maintained their competitiveness in the last few games by keeping the results close and playing well defensively. Moving forward, he hopes that the team can provide more help on the offensive side to secure the win.
"We've been pretty competitive and most of the games have been close towards the end," Jones said. "I think we're starting to play a certain way and understand a certain way we have to play every night to be successful and we're not going to go out and put a bunch of goals on the net. So, we got to play a tiny systematic game and I think that's what we're doing we're taking care of the puck in the neutral zone pretty well and try to go from there."

BACK-TO-BACK FOR REICHEL

Lukas Reichel netted his fourth NHL of his career and his second straight in the team's loss. In his last six games, he produced three goals for the Blackhawks.
Head coach Luke Richardson noted that he is still seeing some opportunities for growth from the 20-year-old forward as he navigates his way through the NHL. Once he learns how to recover faster following certain plays, he can become a stronger offensive producer.
"I think he's been very explosive for us," Richardson said. "I think he's getting more confident in that way; he's just got to figure out the certain danger zones, that you can't recover from in this league. It's just too quick and strong."

VAN@CHI: Reichel scores in 3rd period

With eight points (4G, 4A) in 16 games this season, Jones can see the potential that Reichel can provide for this team further down the road. By having his quickness and offensive capabilities, he can be a threat to the opposing team's defense and spark energy for the Blackhawks as well.
"He's going to be a massive piece of this team in the future," Jones said. "You [can] see glimpses just like tonight with the speed he can create and the offense he creates with the puck. He has the kind of speed that could put fear in defenders. When he's flying and his legs are going, he just blows by guys, and it takes us to the net and it gives us energy as well."
