The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have loaned forward Kirby Dach to the Canadian men's national junior ice hockey team for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship which will take place from Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta. The loan is contingent on the start of the 2020-21 NHL season.

Originally drafted by the Blackhawks with the third overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Dach skated in 64 National Hockey League games as a rookie last season, recording 23 points (8G, 15A). His 15 assists paced all players drafted in the 2019 NHL Draft while his 23 points shared first, and his eight goals were second among 2019 draftees. Dach also made his NHL postseason debut during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, appearing in nine contests and recording one goal and five assists. His six points shared fourth among Blackhawks skaters.
A native of St. Albert, Alberta, Dach made his international debut with Canada at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He finished second on the team in scoring with seven points (1G, 6A) in five games during the tournament. Dach also helped his country win a gold medal at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, registering two goals and five helpers.
