The Blue Jackets opened the scoring on their first power play near the halfway point of the first period. Zach Werenski kept a puck in at the point and slid a pass to Cam Atkinson in the center of the ice. the winger quickly found an open Oliver Bjorkstrand on the left circle for a one-time feed that beat Lankinen blocker side.

2nd - 3:39 - Eric Robinson (Oliver Bjorkstrand)

Off a Blackhawks scoring chance at one end of the rink, Columbus struck in transition at the other end to double the lead early in the second. Oliver Bjorkstrand corralled a loose puck in his own end and sprung Eric Robinson on a breakaway from the neutral zone in, beating Lankinen under the glove for a 2-0 lead.

The Blackhawks power play found twine again in the middle frame after being held off the board for the first time all season on Wednesday. Patrick Kane slid a pass to Dylan Strome in the slot, and the centerman put a shot bar-down from in tight on Joonas Korpisalo to cut the Blue Jackets' advantage to 2-1.
