The 2018 World Junior Championships got underway this past Monday in Buffalo and offense has been the name of the game thus far. In the first four days of competition, four or more goals have been tallied eight times. In this high energy WJC, a handful of Blackhawks draft picks have been producing for their respective teams.
D Henri Jokiharju, Finland
The Blackhawks 2017 first-round draft pick has been at the forefront of the Finland attack with three points (2G, 1A). In a victory over Denmark he accounted for a goal and an assist with a game-high 23:54 on the ice and earned player of the game honors.
LW Artur Kayumov, Russia
Kayumov has been an offensive machine thus far in the tournament. His five points (3G, 2A) put him atop the WJC standings. The 2016 second-round draft pick has picked up a goal in each of his first three tilts.
RW Andrei Altybarmakyan, Russia
The other Blackhawks winger for Russia has been producing as well as an offensive facilitator. Altybarmakyan has two helpers in his team's first three games in the WJC.
D Jakub Galvas, Czech Republic
In his WJC debut, the defenseman notched his first points with an assist against Russia. The 2017 fifth-round pick would go on to then tally two shots on goal in his second outing of the tournament against Sweden
F Tim Soderlund, Sweden
The 2017 fourth-round pick started off the tournament with a +1 finish in a dominate victory over Belarus. He followed up with a shot on goal in a 3-1 win over Czech Republic.
All five prospects will return to the ice before pool play is finished on Sunday and tournament action begins on Tuesday.
