The Blackhawks made their first trade on day two of the 2021 NHL Draft, sending a third-round pick in next year's draft to Carolina in exchange for the 91st overall selection. With the newly-acquired pick, Chicago selected Taige Harding from the AJHL's Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

The 6-foot-7, 236-pound defenseman posted 13 points (5G, 8A) in 16 games last season, his second with Fort McMurray. He's heading to Providence College in the fall.
