2009 - Dallas Stars first goal

2009: A native of Victoria, Canada, Benn's stardom came roughly 71 miles south of his hometown on Oct. 11 against Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks. Benn went on to score 21 more for Dallas during his rookie season, the second-most all-time for a first-year player in franchise history behind only James Neal (24).

2010: Benn became known for his fighting prowess early on in his career with memorable scraps like this one against former Calgary Flames captain Jerome Iginla.

2012 - Benn talks with Drake at All-Star

2012: Benn was named an NHL All-Star for the first time in 2012, representing "Team Chara" at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.

2013 - Benn, Modano, Gaglardi new jerseys, colors

2013: Benn was a pillar in the franchise's transition to an all-new look under new owner Tom Gaglardi in the summer of 2013. The Stars unveiled a sleek, modern logo and Victory Green branding that has become a staple in the club's identity ever since.

2013 - Benn named captain in September

2013: Before the 2013-14 season, at age 24, Benn was formally named the team's sixth captain since the Stars relocated from Minnesota to Dallas in 1993.

"In a very short period of time, Jamie Benn has gone from being an exciting up-and-coming player in the NHL, to being a cornerstone of the franchise," Stars general manager Jim Nill said at the time. "He has steadily grown as a player and as a person. He conducts himself each and every day in a professional way and continually leads by example. We fully believe that he will be a driving force in getting this team to the next level -- and now he's our captain."

2014 - Benn represents Team Canada at Olympics

2014: Benn was selected to represent Team Canada in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He scored the game-winning goal to beat Norway in the first game and the only marker in a 1-0 victory over the U.S. in the semifinals, advancing Canada to the championship where they blanked Sweden to win gold.

2014 - Benn, Stars make playoffs for first time since 2007-08

2014: On the heels of a 34-goal season, Benn led the Stars to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2007-08. They were defeated in the first round by the Anaheim Ducks in six games.

June 2015 - Benn at NHL Awards

2015: Benn became the first Stars player to win the Art Ross Trophy. He finished the season with a league - and career-best 87 points - one more than runner-up John Tavares' 86.

January 2016 - Benn, Seguin, Ruff at All-Star Weekend in Nashville

2016: Benn was named to his second All-Star Game in 2016 along with teammate Tyler Seguin and then-coach Lindy Ruff, who guided the Central Division team during the weekend in Nashville.

2016 - Benn, Stars return to playoffs

2016: Owners of the best record in the Western Conference and winners of the Central Division crown with 109 points, Benn and the Stars returned to the postseason during the 2015-16 season. Dallas dispatched Minnesota in the first round in six games before falling to St. Louis in seven.

2018 - Back-to-back hat tricks to finish season

2018: Though Dallas just missed the playoffs in 2017-18, Benn capped the campaign with a bang, earning hat tricks in two of the final three regular season games. The first came on April 3 at San Jose and the second in the finale on April 7 against the Kings. Benn finished the season with 36 goals -- the second-most of his career.

2019 - Benn, Stars return to playoffs

2019: Benn and the Stars earned their way back to the playoffs during the 2018-19 season as the top wild-card team in the West. The captain helped guide Dallas to a first-round upset of division-winning Nashville in six games before the Stars fell to eventual Stanley Cup champion St. Louis in seven games in Round 2.

2020 - Benn, Stars win Winter Classic at Cotton Bowl

2020: A historic first for both the city of Dallas and the NHL, the Stars hosted the 2020 Winter Classic on New Year's Day at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Before more than 85,000 fans, the Stars rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat the Predators, 4-2 in the outdoor game. Benn earned an assist on Alexander Radulov's go-ahead goal in the third period.

2020 - Benn records hat trick vs. Carolina

2020: Benn scored three times in a victory over Carolina on Feb. 11 for the sixth hat trick of his NHL career. "When he gets going like that, he's a force," Stars interim coach Rick Bowness said afterward.

2020: On Feb. 27 in Boston, Benn was credited with his 300th career goal in a strange sequence that saw the goal awarded, taken away and then awarded again following the game. He joined Chicago's Patrick Kane as one of only two players from the 2007 draft to have reached the milestone.
