The Dallas Stars will make a couple of changes at forward tonight when they take on the Edmonton Oilers at American Airlines Center to open a two-game homestand.
Right wing Blake Comeau is not expected to play tonight because his wife is in labor.
"We imagine Blake is going to enjoy the day with his newborn baby," Stars coach Jim Montgomery said.

So, with Comeau not expected to play, Brett Ritchie is slated to take Comeau's spot on the fourth line with Mattias Janmark and Jason Dickinson. Ritchie has been a scratch in the past five games and seven of the past eight.
Valeri Nichushkin will come back into the lineup after being a healthy scratch in Saturday's game in Vancouver. He'll play right wing on a line with Radek Faksa and Tyler Pitlick.
"I spoke to Val and told him how happy I was with the way he is playing," Montgomery said. "His effort and execution all over the ice have been really good. Mentally he was pressing. I told him it was an opportunity to watch a game and when you watch from up top, you realize it is not as hard as you are making it in your own mind."
Gemel Smith will be a healthy scratch at forward for the sixth time in the last seven games.

Stars excited for time at home after long road trip

There are no changes on defense. The Stars will role with the same six and same defense pairs that they've used in four of the last five games: Esa Lindell-Miro Heiskanen; Gavin Bayreuther-Roman Polak; Joel Hanley-Taylor Fedun.
The Stars held an optional skate this morning at the AAC and Heiskanen was told to stay off the ice because he's been logging some big minutes in games.
"It is important because sometimes you feel like everybody is going out and I've got to," Montgomery said. "[Heiskanen] is not a rookie, not for us. He's playing way too many minutes. And same with Esa, who is a guy that likes to go out and we told him that it's not an option, you're not going out. Those guys are playing so many important minutes. Said the same thing to Jamie Benn, but he didn't listen."
Anton Khudobin will get the start in goal. Montgomery opted not to give Ben Bishop a second straight start since Saturday was Bishop's first game back after missing five games with a lower-body injury.
"We're not going to take any chances right now," Montgomery said. "Bish is our No. 1. He played great in Vancouver, but the travel and coming back, we don't want to take any chances."
The Stars (14-10-3) are coming off a 2-1-1 road trip that included a 1-0 overtime loss to the Oilers on Tuesday. They play Edmonton tonight and San Jose on Friday before heading back out on another four-game road trip next week. The Stars have played 13 of their last 18 games on the road, so they are looking to make the most of this time at home.
"It feels like we've been gone a month," said forward Tyler Pitlick. "It's nice to be home and see my family. Hopefully, we can find a little comfort here at home. But we can't get too comfortable. We got to get some points. We've got to play hard and play our game. It would be nice to get some points at home."

Opposition watch: Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers (13-11-2) are coming off a 2-1 win over Vegas on Saturday that pushed their winning streak to three games. Connor McDavid and Ryan Spooner scored goals, and Mikko Koskinen stopped 31 shots for the Oilers, who are 4-1-1 since Ken Hitchcock was named head coach on Nov. 20.
Koskinen, who stopped 28 shots in shutting out the Stars last Tuesday, was the first goalie off the ice for the Oilers this morning and is the expected starter tonight. He is 8-2-1 with a 2.16 goals against average and .928 save percentage.
