As the 2017 World Junior Championships continue rolling along, the biggest upset so far may have been Team Denmark taking a 3-2 win against Team Finland. The player who scored the game-winning goal in that game was none other than Sharks prospect Joachim Blichfeld (

The Sharks drafted Blichfeld in the 7th round (210th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft this past summer.
Of the Sharks prospects not playing for the Barracuda, Blichfeld plays the closest to San Jose. A mere 669 miles north in Portland, OR, he plays for the Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.
Blichfeld has been a solid top six scoring contributor to the Winterhawks lineup this season. He's currently tied for 5th most goals on the team, and is tied for third in powerplay goals.
"I'm not a defensive guy, like to play in the offensive zone,"
Blichfeld told Zachary Devine of HockeyProphets.com
. "Shoot the puck and make good plays and a good eye for the net. The guys over here are a lot bigger than home in Sweden, so I have to get bigger."
Being as young as he is, it will likely be a couple years before Sharks or Barracuda fans see him in a San Jose lineup, but they can keep their eyes on the World Juniors for a glimpse of the future. Blichfeld and Team Denmark's next game is Thursday against the Czech Republic at 10 am Pacific.
