New Kid on the Block
Mitchell Russell (North Bay) signed an entry-level deal with the Sharks amid North Bay's OHL Eastern Conference playoff run. Russell helped guide North Bay to the Eastern Conference finals with 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in nine games through the first two rounds. Russell scored his first OHL playoff hat trick and added an assist on May 6 against Kingston and had another four-point (one goal, three assists) night on May 10. The forward led North Bay in scoring in the playoffs and still ranks fourth in scoring as of May 31.
Cardwell Excels
Ethan Cardwell (Barrie) led Barrie in scoring and goal scoring in the playoffs with four goals and six points in six games. The forward tallied points (two goals, one assist) on three of Barrie's four goals in their eventual 4-6 season-ending loss to Mississauga on May 2.
