It's a major Pacific Division matchup tonight as the Sharks host the Vegas Golden Knights in a nationally televised game.
Tonight's game has huge implications for the playoff race as the NHL regular season is wrapping up in the next few weeks. The Golden Knights - long thought to have won the Pacific - are within striking distance of the Sharks, only 8 points ahead with 9 games left - and two games between the two. The Sharks can pull within 6 points tonight, while increasing their lead on the Los Angeles Kings to 6 points to try to assure home ice in the first round of the playoffs.
The Sharks are the hottest they've been this season, currently on a 5 game winning streak and having won 8 of their last 10. Even more encouraging is that the scoring has been done by committee - there's no greater example than last night's game, where the six goals were scored by six different players.
Speaking of last night's game, it was as strong of a game as any by the Sharks. After briefly being tied 1-1, the Sharks rattled off five straight goals in the first and second periods to gain a stranglehold on the game. Martin Jones continued his strong play, and the penalty kill was perfect after an out-of-character game in Vancouver.

With the Sharks on a five game win streak, it should come as no surprise that DeBoer declined to make any lineup changes tonight. Martin Jones is also back in net.
