The Ottawa Senators were shutout 4-0 by the Anaheim Ducks Friday afternoon at Honda Center.

In his fifth start of the year, Anton Forsberg stopped 29 shots in the Senators (4-13-1) net. The Ducks (11-7-3) got goals from Isac Lundestrom, Derek Grant, Troy Terry and Rickard Rakell while Anthony Stolarz made 34 saves for his fourth career shutout.
"You can't focus on the end result," Nick Holden said. "You need to make sure you focus on the little things shift after shift after shift. If you can consistently bring the same effort, the same system, the entire time you're going to give yourself a really good chance."
Anaheim had the lone goal of the first and it came with 3:17 to play as Rakell forced a turnover behind the Sens net and fed Lundestrom out front for his fourth of the year.
The Sens had opportunities early in the second: Chris Tierney hit the post on a rebound while two power play chances were unsuccessful before they found themselves down 2-0. The Ducks broke out as the second Sens man advantage opportunity concluded and doubled their lead at 10:28 as Forsberg denied Grant but the puck bounced high where Victor Mete swatted it clear but it hit Tyler Ennis and bounced into the Sens net.
"I thought we were carrying the play pretty good in the second," Senators head coach D.J. Smith said. "We had a lot of chances but just didn't capitalize."
Terry made it 3-0 with 42.4 seconds left in the period as he drove the net on the power play and beat Forsberg five-hole.
Rakell pushed the lead to 4-0 as he finished off a tic-tac-toe play with Trevor Zegras and Sonny Milano at 9:05 of the third.
"There is not a lack of effort there today," Smith said. "They're trying. They're frustrated we're not scoring and when you're losing you open it up and you give up more chances.
"Give Anaheim credit. They checked us hard all night and didn't give us much."
Brady Tkachuk had a goal waved off with 3:44 to play in regulation after goalie interference was called after Josh Norris slid into Stolarz after driving the net.
"As much as we can, don't look at wins and losses as much as the process in winning and making sure we're bringing a consistent effort in every part of our game," Holden said.
Ottawa completes its four-game road trip Saturday when they visit the Kings at 7pm. The Senators are back home Dec. 1 when they host Vancouver.
