OTTAWA - The
Ottawa Senators
announced today that the team has signed defenceman Christian Jaros to a one-year, two-way contract. The agreement holds a value $750,000 in the National Hockey League and $250,000 in the American Hockey League.

A native of Kosice, Slovakia, Jaros, 24, spent playing time, for the third consecutive season, with both the Senators and with the team's AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators, in 2019-20. He registered three points (three assists) and six penalty minutes over 13 contests with Ottawa and tallied 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) and 14 penalty minutes over 34 games with the B-Sens. He also tied for second among Belleville skaters with a plus-20 plus/minus rating.
"Despite being limited by injury last season, Christian proved to be a reliable defensive defenceman," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He's a big body who's rangy and who skates well. With his considerable professional experience, we'll look for him to challenge for a roster spot in Ottawa when camp begins."
The Senators' fifth-round pick (139th overall) at the 2015 NHL Draft, Jaros has recorded 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) and 33 penalty minutes over 76 NHL games with Ottawa. He has also registered 31 points (five goals, 26 assists) and 57 penalty minutes over 79 contests with the B-Sens.
Internationally, Jaros has represented his country on several occasions including the IIHF World Junior Championships twice where he won a bronze medal at the 2015 event and captained the team to a quarter-final appearance at the 2016 tournament in Helsinki.
