Goaltender Anders Nilsson has announced his retirement from professional hockey.

Nilsson last played in the NHL for the Sens during the 2019-20 season where he posted a 9-9-2 record with a .908 save percentage and a 3.18 GAA in 20 games.
"I would like to announce my retirement from professional ice hockey," Nilsson

. "My post concussion symptoms and neck problems make it impossible for me to continue as a professional goalie. Obviously not the way I wanted my career to end, but I got to achieve my dream as a kid to play in the NHL and represent my home country Sweden on the world stage."
All in all, he played 44 games for Ottawa, going 20-20-2.
In 161 NHL games, Nilsson went 59-74-15 with a .907 save percentage and a 3.06 GAA and had six career shutouts. In addition to the Sens, the Swede also played for the New York Islanders, Edmonton, St. Louis, Buffalo and Vancouver. The 31-year-old was the 62nd overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft by the Islanders.
Outside of the NHL, Nilsson won a World Juniors bronze medal in 2010, a World Championships bronze in 2014 and was named to the KHL First All-Star team in 2015 when playing for Ak Bars Kazan.
