The exact date has yet to be determined, but whenever it's time for the Predators to lace up their skates at Bridgestone Arena once more, the frozen sheet will be ready.
Ice installation, a process that's usually reserved for the end of August or early September, took place over the weekend at Nashville's home arena in anticipation of the eventual start of the 2020-21 NHL season.

The NHL has set a target date of Jan. 1, 2021 to begin the new campaign, and the League and NHL Players' Association continue to work toward achieving that goal.
What the season will look like from a scheduling and logistical standpoint remains to be seen, but the hope is the Preds will play games at Bridgestone Arena for at least a portion of the schedule.

Overseen by Predators and Bridgestone Arena Senior Ice Manager Nigel Schnarr, a razor-thin layer of water went down, followed by coats of finely-sprayed white paint. Then, the blue lines, goal creases and faceoff circles are hand painted before the Preds logo is affixed to center ice.
The transformation of a concrete slab to a work of art always brings a feeling of promise for any hockey fan, and the freezing canvas is a welcomed sight, especially now.
