The Nashville Predators are eager for a chance at redemption tonight in Dallas as they finish off their two-game set with the Stars (7 p.m. CT) at American Airlines Center.
Nashville's first road trip of the season began Friday night in Texas, and the Stars scored seven goals in total - five of which came on the power play - on their way to a 7-0 win in their season-opener. After a scoreless first period, Dallas tallied five times on Juuse Saros in the second before adding two more against Pekka Rinne in the third.
While special teams play led directly to the loss - the Preds were also 0-for-5 on their own power-play opportunities - they still outshot the Stars by a 34-28 margin, and they'll look to build on Friday's start that saw them as the better team through the game's first 20 minutes.

Hynes talks adjustments before rematch with Stars

"The game got away from us during special teams, but it's a long season and it's a process," Preds Captain Roman Josi said following Friday's loss. "We've got to stick to our game. Today didn't go our way - we've got to be a lot better, but I think we've got to stick to our process and stick to our game."
The Predators participated in off-ice workouts and meetings on Saturday and are likely to hold a full morning skate today. Forward Mathieu Olivier was assigned to the team's taxi squad on Saturday, and forward Calle Jarnkrok was placed on Injured Reserve Friday retroactive to Jan. 18.

The Good Guys:
The Preds were shut out for the first time this season as their record moved to 2-2-0 on the young season. As a result, Filip Forsberg's goal streak to begin the campaign came to an end.
Mikael Granlund returned to the Predators lineup on Friday night for his first game of the season after completing his COVID protocols. Granlund skated on a line with Matt Duchene and Luke Kunin and recorded four shots in nearly 18 minutes of ice time.
Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson lead the team in scoring with three points apiece, followed by Kunin, Brad Richardson, Rocco Grimaldi, Duchene and Dante Fabbro with two points each. A total of 16 Predators skaters have registered at least one point though the team's first four games.
Saros started Friday's game and has both of Nashville's wins this season, while Rinne saw action for the second time in four games.
The Opposition:
Friday night's season-opener for the Stars saw nine of their players record at least one point in the 7-0 win. Joe Pavelski led the team with two goals and four points in the victory; Alexander Radulov also had a pair of goals and added an assist. Joel Kiviranta, Esa Lindell and Denis Gurianov also scored for Dallas, and Anton Khudobin stopped all 34 shots he faced to earn the shutout.

All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are now 40-43-(1)-5 all-time against the Stars, including a 14-27-(0)-3 record on the road. The Preds have earned at least a point in 11 of their last 16 games versus Dallas (10-5-1), and Nashville has scored at least four goals in eight of its last 12 victories over Dallas.
Last season, Nashville and Dallas split their four-game regular-season series, with the Predators prevailing in their final two meetings. Nashville shut out Dallas in both of its wins (March 5 and 7, 2020), marking the first time in team history it has shut out an opponent in both games of a home-and-home set. Per NHL PR, Nashville became the 11th team in the last 45 years to accomplish the feat.
Notables Versus Dallas:
Pekka Rinne has recorded a shutout four times in 34 games against Dallas, tied for his third-most against a single opponent in his NHL career.
Roman Josi has recorded 28 points (10g-18a) in 37 career contests versus Dallas, and Matt Duchene has played at a point-per-game pace against the Stars in his career, recording 43 points (16g-27a) in 43 games. Mikael Granlund has 24 points (7g-17a) in 30 career contests versus Dallas.
