FORT LAUDERDALE – With new seasons come new updates.
Following the first day of training camp at Baptist Health IcePlex on Thursday, Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice provided updates on Brad Marchand and Jonah Gadjovich.
For Marchand, who dealt with a lingering injury last season and underwent surgery in August, the 38-year-old will be unavailable while rehabbing through all of October.
“He’s going to take the month of October for rehab,” Maurice said of the veteran winger’s status. “That may be he’s ready to play right at the end of it, and maybe he needs a short period of time, assuming no setbacks. We’re planning on rehabbing for October.”
In 52 games last season, Marchand racked up 54 points (27G, 27A) and ranked second on the team in both goals and assists at the time of his last game.
Reaching 1,000 points last season, the likely future Hall of Famer has recorded 1,034 points and 1,153 penalty minutes in 1,152 career NHL games.
Unfortunately, Gadjovich’s future is less clear than Marchand’s at the moment.
Maurice announced that the powerful fourth liner will be out indefinitely.
“We’re still looking at options and searching for some answers on this,” he said.
Injured against the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 25, Gadjovich underwent surgery in November of 2025 and was unable to return before the end of last season.
In 10 games prior to his injury last year, the 27-year-old recorded three assists and 30 hits.
“I have nothing but respect for the man,” Maurice said of Gadjovich. “He’s in the gym. He does everything every day to give himself a chance. We’re certainly hopeful.”
