reimer weekend in sofla

Welcome to "My Weekend in South Florida," where your favorite Florida Panthers players share how they prefer to spend their free weekends throughout the summer and season while suiting up for the NHL's southernmost franchise.

1. If I have a free weekend in South Florida, I usually spend it…
I'm usually just sitting by the pool, most likely. I'm a parent now, so I don't really have free days [laughs]. I'm pretty chill. I usually just hang out with the family. The one unfortunate thing about hockey is that you don't get a lot of family time during the year, so when you have a day off you have to take advantage of it.
2. If one of my teammates tags along, it's usually…
It's usually Canner [Jared McCann]. We were dinner buddies this year.
3. I like having them around because…
He's relaxed. We also have pretty similar tastes. It's just one of those things where you see life similarly. I think there was one thing that really cemented our friendship, though. It was last year and my wife was pregnant and giving birth, so we needed someone to watch the dog and the house. He came in and house sat for us for a couple days. That really boded well for him.
4. When it's time to grab a bite, I'll head to…
My favorite place here is Sublicious in Coral Springs. It's a good little sandwich spot. It's always good. It's healthy enough that you can have it before a game, but also still tasty enough that you can enjoy it. I like to go with the rotisserie chicken sub.
5. If that's not an option, then I'll try…
I enjoy Moe's. I go with the steak burrito. I think it's called the "Homewrecker."
6. If I hit the beach, I can't forget to bring…
A long-sleeve shirt with a hood [laughs]. I'm a not a sunscreen guy, so I need to be covered.
7. My favorite thing about playing hockey in South Florida is…
I always thought it was cool as a kid. I remember thinking how great it would be if you could come to the rink in flip flops. I don't know why I thought that would be cool, but it is. It's more relaxed and enjoyable. I also like how passionate our fans are. Hockey isn't always in your face down here like it is up in Canada, so it's an acquired taste that you've got to learn. I think that really helps create a deep passion. I saw it San Jose, too. All the fans are really knowledgeable.
