The Panthers' inaugural summer reading tour is already in full swing.
In conjunction with Broward County Libraries and the Broward Public Library Foundation, the Panthers are visiting 11 area libraries from June-August, with special guests, alumni and personalities serving as guest readers at each stop.
This past week, goaltender Roberto Luongo and broadcaster Bill Lindsay kicked off the tour, reading hockey-themed picture books to groups of captivated young children at the North Lauderdale Saraniero Library and Stirling Road Library.
By sharing a bit of fiction, the Panthers hope to also create some new fans.
"That's where it all begins," Luongo said.
The next stop on the tour will be on Tuesday, July 10 at the Dan Pearl Library in Sunrise. For more information about the tour, please visit
