The Vegas Golden Knights (8-1-1) battled to the end in a 5-4 victory against the Anaheim Ducks (5-7-3) on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
Halfway through the opening period Mark Stone continued his four-game point streak by finding an open Chandler Stephenson for a goal right between the legs of goaltender Ryan Miller to put Vegas on top. Later in the period, a redirected pass off the skate of Jonathan Marchessault gained Vegas an early two-goal first period lead. Less than three minutes into the second, Alex Tuch extended the Golden Knight lead to 3-0 with a backhand goal. Anaheim forward Isac Lundestrom answered right back with a quick goal, to cut into the Vegas lead. Nic Roy notched his first goal of the season with a deep wrist shot that pushed the score to a three-goal game late into the second period. The Ducks made a third-period push with three straight goals to even the game at 4-4. Late in the third Zach Whitecloud drove hard to the net for a rebound game-winning goal that solidified a 5-4 Golden Knights victory.
