Austin Czarnik scored a hat trick for the Calgary Flames in a 5-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Czarnik scored at 6:20 and 17:07 of the first period, and 9:18 into the second period to help Calgary take a 4-1 lead.
Canucks rookie forward Elias Pettersson scored his first goal of the preseason at 14:12 of the first to tie it 1-1. Mikael Backlund scored a shorthanded goal to give the Flames a 3-1 lead at 6:00 of the second.
Brandon Sutter scored a power-play goal at 9:31 of the third period to make it 4-2. Mark Jankowski finished the scoring with 17 seconds left.
Jon Gilles (13 saves) and David Rittich (14) each allowed one goal for Calgary. Thatcher Demko made 17 saves for Vancouver.
