Brind’Amour spends day with Stanley Cup in Raleigh community

Rod Brind'Amour and the Stanley Cup hung with their fellow Caniacs on Thursday.

The Carolina Hurricanes head coach brought the Stanley Cup to local establishments throughout Raleigh to celebrate his day with the trophy.

To kick the day off, Brind’Amour and the trophy stopped by Raleigh Police’s Southwest District to visit officers who work off duty at the Lenovo Center.

One officer put a dog in the Cup in a photo shared by the Raleigh Police on social media.

Later, Brind’Amour and Lord Stanley surprised students at St. Timothy’s School, a local private school his kids attended in Raleigh.

Students and staff greeted the duo in the school parking lot with loud cheers. They then walked through the halls of the school where more students were lined up clapping in videos shared on Instagram.

For snack time, Brind’Amour and the Cup headed over to local shop, Sugar Koi Ice Cream, for a sweet treat.

The shop shared a photo of Brind’Amour and his wife, Amy, eating ice cream out of the trophy.

Brind’Amour has lived in Raleigh since he was traded to the Hurricanes in January 2000. The former Hurricanes star captained the team to their first Stanley Cup championship in 2006.

He is the seventh person in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup as a player and coach for the same team.
