Ehlers Stanley Cup Lambo

Nikolaj Ehlers buckled up the Stanley Cup for a joyride on Thursday.

The Carolina Hurricanes forward rode in a Lamborghini with the trophy to celebrate his day with the Cup in his hometown of Aalborg, Denmark.

In a video posted to YouTube, Ehlers strapped Lord Stanley into the passenger seat of a yellow Lambo before the two rode to his event at Sparekassen Danmark Arena.

Ehlers and the Cup walked down a red carpet as fans applauded their arrival at the arena in a video posted by the Danish Ice Hockey National Team Instagram page.

Around 4,000 fans showed up to catch a glimpse of the trophy and the champion at the arena.

During an autograph session with fans, Ehlers signed a teenage fan’s forehead. The two then posed for a picture together with the Cup.

Earlier in the day, the veteran forward was honored at Aalborg Town Hall where he received gifts and met with the city's mayor Lasse Frimand Jensen

Ehlers spoke about his whirlwind day in a video posted by NHL Europe.

“It’s been fantastic to be able to take the trophy home to Aalborg and Denmark,” Ehlers said in the YouTube video.

“There are a lot of people who have come from all over Denmark. So, that means a lot. It’s been a solid day and right now that gives me a little closure to the wildest month I’ve had. It’s been fantastic and I’m super happy.”
