Gleason takes Stanley Cup to Michigan to help inspire youth

These youth hockey players in Michigan know what they’re playing for now, thanks to Tim Gleason.

The Carolina Hurricanes assistant coach brought the Stanley Cup to his home state of Michigan on Sunday to share the trophy with local youth hockey teams.

Each of the teams got to snap a photo with the Cup, creating smiles and memories that will surely last a lifetime.

Gleason also took the Cup to his hometown in Clawson, Michigan, where he got to take a photo of it with his old hockey jerseys, and bask in its glory with family and friends.

The former NHL player spent 11 seasons in the League, including nine with the Hurricanes as a player. He was a first round draft pick in the 2001 NHL Draft and started his career with the Los Angeles Kings before he was traded to Carolina.

He finished his playing career with the Washington Capitals in 2015 and returned to the Hurricanes organization as an assistant coach in 2021.
