Iginla with Simpson

Todd Simpson hasn’t spent too much time as a delivery man throughout his career, but Saturday’s delivery was one to remember.

After the Calgary Flames selected Joe Iginla with the 64th overall pick in the 2026 Upper Deck NHL Draft, the former Flames captain made a surprise visit to Iginla’s front door to hand deliver his new sweater.

Iginla was all smiles after receiving the jersey. How could he not be?

Iginla is the son of Flames legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Jarome Iginla. Jarome and Simpson played three seasons together in Calgary.

“It’s obviously really exciting, I was obviously hoping to go to the Flames because of my dad growing up,” the younger Iginla told the Flames. “I’ve been around the Flames my whole life, it was always kind of a dream to be on them.”

Jarome – who played 16 of his 20 NHL seasons with the Flames – is still with the organization, currently serving as a special advisor to general manager Craig Conroy.
