Dell, who was born in Airdrie, Alberta, a suburb of Calgary, has allowed two goals in his past three starts and is 5-3-1 with a 1.72 goals-against-average and .939 save percentage in 11 games this season.
This will be Dell's first start since he made 25 saves in a 5-0 win against the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 9.
The Sharks are 5-2-1 in their past eight games; the Flames have points in four straight (2-0-2).
San Jose and Calgary are tied for third place in the Pacific Division with 35 points; however, the Sharks have played two fewer games.
