Goaltender Mike Condon will start for the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson, who had started the past six games, is on a leave of absence to be with his wife, Nicholle, who began treatment for throat cancer Wednesday. Condon, acquired in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins for a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft on Nov. 2, is 2-1-0 with a 1.76 goals-against average and .943 save percentage in three games with the Senators. In his most recent start he allowed five goals on 40 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on Nov. 17. Forward Bobby Ryan is out because of a finger injury; replacing him will be forward Max McCormick, who will play his fifth game of the season. Defenseman Marc Methot will not play after sustaining an undisclosed injury during a 5-4 home loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Fredrik Claesson, who will play his seventh game of the season, will start in Methot's spot with captain Erik Karlsson. Since being put together during a 4-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 22, the line of Mike Hoffman, Derick Brassard and Mark Stone has combined for nine goals and 10 assists in five games. Hoffman had his first NHL hat trick against the Sabres.
