MIN@STL: Schenn deposits 2nd PPG of game on doorstep

ST. LOUIS --The St. Louis Blues scored seven straight goals in a 7-3 win against the Minnesota Wild at Enterprise Center on Thursday.

David Perron had two goals and an assist, Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn each scored twice, and Mike Hoffman had three assists for the Blues (27-20-9), who finished the regular season 8-1-3. Jordan Binnington made 17 saves.
St. Louis is the No. 4 seed from the Honda West Division and will play the No. 1 seed Colorado Avalanche, who won the Presidents' Trophy, in the Stanley Cup First Round. Game 1 of the best-of-7 series is at Colorado on Monday.
"When we're skating and we're physical, I think we give them a lot of issues," Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly said of the Avalanche. "Whether that's forecheck or defending, when we play our heavy game and commit to it and put pucks in and don't feed their rush, we make it tough on them and find ways to beat them. That's what we've got to do. That's got to be our focus. We know that they have a lot of talent over there. They work hard, but for us, it's an exciting challenge. We're going to have some fun and we're going to beat them."

MIN@STL: Perron rifles wrist shot up high for goal

Marcus Foligno had a goal and an assist, and Kaapo Kahkonen made 20 saves for the Wild (35-16-5), who were swept in the two-game set following a 4-0 loss here Wednesday.
"It's disappointing. No question it is," Minnesota coach Dean Evason said. "This is a hockey club that has won a Stanley Cup two years ago and they just plug away."
The Wild are the No. 3 seed in the West and begin their series at the No. 2 seed Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.
"When you play good teams like that, great teams, you raise your play up a little bit," Foligno said. "Just emotional games against them. They're a great team. We're a great team. It's going to be a fun series."

MIN@STL: Sanford snipes goal after nifty toe-drag

St. Louis started its comeback when Zach Sanford cut it to 3-1 at 5:16 of the second period. He toe-dragged Foligno before shooting through the forward's legs and over Kahkonen's glove from the left circle.
Schenn scored a power-play goal from the slot to make it 3-2 at 8:29, and Perron tied it 3-3 at 11:33 with a wrist shot from the right circle.
"It was pretty obvious what was going on in the first period," Perron said. "Like [former Blues coach Ken Hitchcock] used to say, 'We just threw our sticks on the ice and played,' and so we had talked about it. [Blues coach Craig Berube] brought it up as well. ... The details, execution, playing the right way in a way respecting the game, doing the right things all the time, I think that matters. We did it in the last two periods. We got rewarded."
Schenn put the Blues in front 4-3 at 14:03 when he scored his second power-play goal on a rebound just outside the crease.
Perron scored with the man-advantage on a one-timer from the point to make it 5-3 at 5:50 of the third period.
Kyrou extended the lead to 6-3 at 6:33 after receiving a pass on a 2-on-1 from Klim Kostin, who got his first NHL assist.
