MTL@BUF, Gm 1: Dach cashes in on the rebound with insane backhand

Talk about an impressive second effort.

Late in the second period of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Second Round on Wednesday, Kirby Dach scored a see-it-to-believe-it, acrobatic backhanded goal that left fans' jaws on the floor.

After his initial shot was blocked on the play, the Montreal Canadiens forward somehow found a sliver of space on a second effort to push the puck into the net … all while falling to the ice.

Coming off a forced turnover from teammate Zachary Bolduc, Dach took the puck into the offensive zone and dashed straight towards Buffalo Sabres goalie Alex Lyon.

A diving effort from Sabers defenseman Conor Timmins slowed Dach for a second and gave Lyon a chance to make the initial save, but Dach recovered with a backhand shot while his momentum took him into the back wall.

Somehow, someway, Dach managed to flick the puck into the net to cut the Sabres’ lead in half.

All in the blink of an eye.
