The Sharks are on the road for the first time this season, kicking off their 41 game road schedule with a trip to the East Coast. The team will be in the New York Metropolitan area this weekend, playing all three of the metro-area teams over the span of four days. And first up are the not-quite New York New Jersey Devils.
There are a few ties to the Devils; head coach Peter DeBoer was formerly their head coach, and current Devils defenseman Mirco Mueller was traded there from the Sharks over the summer. After drafting Nico Hischier first overall this past summer, the Devils are currently first in the Metropolitan Division with 12 points in 7 games.
After a slow start for the Sharks, the team has really kicked it into gear over the past three games, going 2-1-0 against the Sabres, Islanders, and Canadiens - and the only loss was one where the Sharks put up 41 shots and gave up only 23. Tuesday's game against the Canadiens saw a lot of players get off the schnide, particularly with Joe Pavelski potting his first goal of the season as well as adding a beauty of a kick assist.
The Sharks will look to continue their high level of play tonight and hopefully start off this road trip on a high note.
